((note: Further down in the post, there are going to be pictures that are NSFW…For nudity. That part is at the bottom, so you can just skip it…))
When I take more than a few days off from blogging, there’s always a ton of stuff I forget :\ I guess I’ll go back to Friday. I just wrote a tiny blog for our school website, so it’s the easiest thing for me to remember ![]()
The kids had a sort-of basketball game…It was sort of like practice, with all the players split into two teams ((blue & white)). They used the clock, scoreboard and had a ref. And man, they played awesome!! Because I’m lazy and I don’t want to upload the pictures again, you can just click here to view them on our school site. ((it’s a safe link, I promise.)) I took the photos, and man, I was totally out of touch. I really need to shoot more! I will be soon, because from now till January, there’s games every week. It’s safe to say that basketball season is totally my fave. ((Softball too))
G. was on the blue team…she’s the little tiny one ![]()

W. was on the white team, number 30…

My kids will miss todays practice, cause they have to go get their physicals…But, they have their first game of the season tomorrow after school! It’s an away game, and I know they’re really looking forward to it.
-Fast forward like…4 hours. :\ Well, thank christ that we only have to go to the doctors like, every now and then…I mean, physicals take like 10 minutes at the most. Granted, I had three kids getting seen…Mike took W. and I had all 3 girls… Well, it seriously felt like we were waiting there for *EVER*. I mean, it was just after 2pm when we got there…and we went into the exam room like 5 minutes after walking in…So then, we wait..and wait, and wait some more. Finally, after what felt like forever, the Dr. comes in. At this point, I was pretty well irritated. Normally, I like their doctor. She’s pleasant enough for a Dr. anyway…I was slightly ((and by slightly I mean a lot)) more irritated when she looked at Mac and said ‘I see you’re doing well’ ((when I initially brought up the fact that Mac had blood in her stool, this lady Doc was the one I told. She gave me these cards that I was supposed to use for stool samples so they could test for blood. She said she wasn’t worried about it and that it was most likely Mac just straining, despite the fact that I told her she wasn’t. She said that the cards would show her if there was blood that we weren’t seeing…Again, despite the fact that I *was* seeing it…The second Dr. I saw about it said that it wasn’t normal for that to be happening to Mac, which is why he referred us straight away to a GI specialist.)) So I said “Well, she’s doing fine *now*. She had a polyp in her colon and had to have it removed”, and the lady says “Yeah, I know. I got the results and she’s fine”. I just sat there with a o_O face, thinking ‘Lady, did you have to wait for a week for that phone call to let us know that it was benign? No, you fucking did not’. Then she goes on with ‘I tried to get in here sooner to see one of them but I had an earlier patient’ My reply: ‘Well, we still would of had to wait then…’ She says ‘Are you healthy?’ ((you know, those list of questions…)) Me: “Yep.” She says, “Is your husband healthy?” Me: “I dunno, why don’t you go ask him? … Yeah, I guess he is”. Then, while she was talking to L., she asked her if she ever had blood in *her* poop. Which L. promptly replied with “Yes. Once.” ((and once, she said she did…however, that was also the day we found out that Mac’s test results came back clean…and L….well, let’s say that I’m not surprised that she said that…Have I been keeping an eye on it? Hells yes. And have I seen anything? No.)) and the doctor says “Well, now that we know what your sister had, we’ll keep a better eye on you guys’. Again, I was thinking ‘What? You didn’t even friggin know before. But the second doctor we saw knew that it just wasn’t right and referred us to a specialist right away. How much help are you going to be.?’ After 10 minutes, she was done and I was so ready to gtfo. She said she needed to just go check and see if G. and L. were up to date on their vaccines, and I said I was pretty sure they were. A few more minutes passed…
Then, Mike comes in. He was like ‘Is something wrong?’. ((At this point, I knew we had been waiting for a fucking long time)) I was like ‘Oh, yeah. The doctor only just came in here like 10 minutes ago’. He looked at me like ‘whut??’. I asked if W. was out in the waiting room, and he said no. A woman that works at the clinic has a daughter in W.’s class, and she was heading to the school to pick her up from practice ((which we thought W. was going to have to miss…)) so she asked W. if he wanted to get a ride back with her so he could still make it to practice. That was at 3pm. Of course, he said yes
I was like ‘Oh…so, what time is it now?’ and Mike said he thought it was 4 or so. wtf. Then he says ‘What are you still waiting for?’ and I was like ‘She’s going to give me a paper to let me know if the girls are up to date with their shots. Which, she can mail to us as far as I’m concerned because these kids are tired of sitting here’. After about 10 more minutes, I said screw this, and went out to wait in the waiting room. She brings us a paper that says the girls are indeed up to date ((thank you :\ )). Wait another few minutes for them to print out a paper saying why we were there that day…and finally, we get to leave. At that time, it was like close to 4:30. I had to stop at the grocery store for a couple things, with three cranky and hungry girls, and get back to town by 5pm, because that’s when Mike would have to pick W. up from practice…We pulled in the driveway and when I walked in the house, it was 4 minutes past 5. Mike didn’t even come in. He just unlocked the door and left.
When W. and Mike came in 15 minutes later, W. was like, ‘Did you seriously have to wait that long? I only waited like 5 minutes. Oh, by the way, I’m 5’8 now.” Me: “Shut up.” ((He was 5’6 over the summer…))
The rest of the night was basically fine…W. played Call of Duty, the girls ((L. and G.)) watched some videos on YouTube, and Mike and I were laying on the rug in the kitchen, next to the woodstove. I was playing with the kittens, and getting tattoos…Mike was getting tattoos as well. Mac’s new favorite game is to take little pieces of paper, get them wet, and stick them on you…either on your face, or your arms…then, when the paper is dry, she takes it off and says ‘What do you think?’. It’s totally cute.
Oh! I’ll point out now, that I started this blog yesterday…it’s now Tuesday :\
Now, since I’m done ranting about the doctor…It’s no secret that my favorite movies in the entire world are ‘The Goonies’, ‘Fright Night’ and ‘Cry-Baby’. ((I do have others, but those are my most favorite ones…))
If I’ve seen the Goonies around a thousand times, then I’ve seen Fright Night like 999 times…however, it’s 100% possible that I’ve seen them equally as often.
In Fright Night, I know every characters line, and while it can be quite annoying to anyone watching the movie to have my constantly quoting…whatever. When I was younger, I had such the crush on Jerry Dandridge. ((I’d seen Chris Sarandon in other movies, but didn’t like him the way I liked him in ‘Fright Night’)) Anyway…so, way back when, when I’d heard they were doing a remake of Fright Night I was all ‘are you fucking kidding me????? That’d be like having a remake of ‘The Goonies’!” Which I know was also considered… )) Needless to say, I was was pissed. But, not surprised, because the movie industry has no fucking imagination anymore really, and they keep remaking things that should be left alone…When the trailer for it went online, I watched it eventually…and was like ‘Well, except for the guy that played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter, who fucking cares.?” ((Yes, I like David Tennant…)) So, time went on, and Mike kept asking me if I had broken down and watched it yet. I could proudly say ‘Hell no.’ I mean, really, you can’t get get a better Peter Vincent…no one can be Peter Vincent other than Roddy McDowall. Who else could rock that spray-on hair?? Uh, no one, that’s who!
Then, the other day, Mike says “You know, we should just watch it, cause I’m curious to see how they did it.” Me: “Oh? I’m not.” *Then* yesterday ((I was working from home, so I didn’t have to get ready or anything)) he says “Hey, why don’t you take an hour and a half and watch ‘Fright Night’ with me?” Me: “Fine. But if they don’t use any of the same dialogue, forget it. I mean, I already don’t like it…”
((the following images are screenshots…and maybe one or two I’ve had to get from google images…I own none of them. Obviously.))
Now, I’m going to compare…
Fright Night 1986 cover. ((the original cover…which I do have somewhere, for my VHS copy…tho, it’s not the same cover as my dvd copy, which has the newer version))

Fright Night 2011 cover.

Well there, the 1986 cover totally wins. No doubt about it.
Opening scene…lame…and, well, I’m not going to go through the entire movie, because then this blog will take up most of my day, and I actually have other shit to do.
The modern day setting of the remake didn’t bother me too much…And right off, I noticed none of the dialog was the same.
I thought the Charley in the new version looked too young…
1986 Charley:

Maybe that’s nitpicking…or maybe I’m just used to the real Charley… I didn’t mind the lady playing Charley’s Mom, ((I liked her in Little Miss Sunshine)) but of course, I preferred the original Mrs. Brewster
Amy tho? Ok…it’s not that I despise the actress in the remake, because I did like her in ’28 Weeks Later’ ((even tho that movie didn’t even compare to ’28 Days Later’, which is another of my favorites)) but she just wasn’t ‘Amy’ to me…this newer one looked…I don’t want to use the word slutty, and yes, I know that what girls wore in the 80′s is totally not what kids wear now…but…
I’m not going to screenshot every comparison. I promise. I didn’t like the character of ‘Ed’ in the remake. Not a single bit. I know they were trying to show us that he’s so into the whole vampire thing, but I didn’t care for the fact that they changed it to Ed trying to convince Charley…The original Ed was totally more awesome.
And what about Billy Cole? Why didn’t they have Jerry’s sidekick? I mean, look at these two:

Colin Farrell as Jerry Dandridge? Chris Sarandon was def. a hotter Jerry ((yes, I still think so…)) I found that Colin Farrell is actually kind of hot, and he’ll never replace my Jerry, he was still kind of ok. That cameo that Chris Sarandon had tho!! That totally made me smile! When he got out of the car, I was all ‘Hey! At least we get to see the original Jerry Dandridge!’ and Mike was all ‘omg! Now I see it!’.
I didn’t like the out of sequence events, but they somehow sort of worked…and David Tennant? I didn’t see him as Peter Vincent, but I loved him nonetheless…’specially when he was sitting in that chair, rubbing his balls and complaining. I did lol at that!
When it was over, I found myself surprised. Mike waited a few minutes and then was like ‘Ok…so…what did you think?’. And I just sat there…because I didn’t really want to give him my answer…
Me: “Well…you know how I said I was hoping they’d use the same dialogue? Well, I’m glad they didn’t.” ((Other than the lines ‘You’re so cool Brewster’, and ‘Welcome to Fright Night…For real.’)) “I liked it. But, I think I liked it, because it seemed nothing like the original, so I didn’t feel like it was a remake…I mean, the characters names were the same, but that was kinda it…” And that was the truth. It didn’t seem like a remake to me…
I was telling the kids about it ((they’ve watched the original with me *toooooooons* of times)) and then W. piped up about the remake of Footloose. ((The original, I absolutely love)) All my kids love the original, but W. said that one of his friends saw the remake in the theatre, and said it was good, so we might watch that sometime…I guess W. wants to see it. I never even saw a trailer for it…Ok, I take that back. I’ve never seen the *whole* trailer for it. I just headed over to youtube, and… yeah, no. I think I’ll be skipping that one. I didn’t even finish the damned trailer. That bad. Yeah, if the kids want to watch ‘Footloose’, they can watch the original.
Now, onto Lady GaGa…and this is where the nudity comes in, so you can feel free to bypass this part.
I’m sure by now, you’ve all seen the video for ‘Marry the Night’. It was the one video I’ve been the most hopeful for. ((That’s one of my top songs from the album)) I watched it at eonline, and as soon as it was over, I immediately opened Firefox ((Chrome is my browser of choice, in case anyone cares…)) because I have the Download Helper extension and headed to Vevo on youtube…where I downloaded the vid in 1080p
I absolutely loved it!!
My first screenshot for it was this one:

unf. that is all.
So, then, I was on celebitchy, reading an article they had about the new vid…and I guess the writer of that one entry just doesn’t like GaGa, which is cool, cause I know not everyone does…and I like celebitchy, so there. They kept calling it ‘cracked out’ and whatnot…the comments on the article tho, man, those people! To each their own opinion, of course, but I read thru a whole shit ton of comments, and really, I only read a few that said that they liked it…whatever, *I* liked it. But, that article led me to another, pointing out that GaGa was on the cover of Vanity Fair for January 2012, and they had some of the images from it…one, I had seen before, and was like ‘hey now! I want that’, so I immediately had to see if I could find a high res. version…not that I can use if for my WP ((my kids use my computer too…it wouldn’t phase my girls, but W. might feel embarrassed a bit…)) This one was the biggest I found that day. ((I will look again…and I hope to pick the mag up, too))
That one would make a kickass poster.
*sigh*
It’s taken me…like 2 hours to write this :\ So, now…I have to try and get my ass in gear. It’s dark and foggy out…Mike isn’t home, and Mac is in my room watching a Barbie movie…I think I’ll give my Mum a call for a bit
The kids are in Bangor today for a field trip, and then, right after, the basketball players are heading out to Lee for their first game of the season. I have to leave here by no later than 3pm, and I don’t expect that we’ll be back until like 7:30 or so…
Then, I have work tomorrow and Thursday…The kids have a half a day Friday, and the girls have a birthday party to go to… So, I suppose the next blog won’t happen until Saturday or so…Hopefully, I’ll have pictures from the games, too. ((They have another one Thursday nite, too))
So, until then…
